Luís Norberto Silva has been a violist with the Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música since September 2000 and maintains a regular activity in various chamber music ensembles with which he has performed in several concert halls and music festivals throughout the country. He began his violin studies at the Academia de Música de Espinho and Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho, where he had the opportunity to learn from professors such as José Camarinha, José Luís Duarte, Carlos Fontes, and Anna Kratochvilová. After 1992, he dedicated himself to the viola as a student of Professor Ryszard Woycicki, with whom he completed his studies at the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo do Porto. In 1994, he was awarded the First Prize in the VIII Edition of the RDP Young Musicians Award in the Viola category.
He has been teaching regularly since 1995, having been part of the faculty at various schools and having experience in pedagogical and artistic management roles. He is currently part of the faculty at Escola de Música de Perosinho and Escola de Música Guilhermina Suggia and is a contracted professor at the Porto Conservatory of Music. He has served on the jury for the Paços Premium instrumentalist competitions, Concurso de Arcos do Alto Minho, Concurso Regional de Arcos in Braga, and the internal competition at the Conservatório de Música do Porto. He has also taught advanced music courses in Aveiro, Espinho, Paços de Brandão, and Porto. He is a member of the board of APVdA – Associação Portuguesa da Viola d’arco.
