Horn

Dario Ribeiro was born in Santa Maria da Feira in 1984.

He graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Professor Paulo Guerreiro and Abel Pereira’s class. He later completed a Master’s in music education at the University of Aveiro. In addition to his training, he made masterclasses with Stefan Dohr, Dale Clevenger, Fergus McWilliam, and Froydis Ree Wekre, among others.

Dario Ribeiro is head of the horn section of the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra. He was part of the Madeira Classical Orchestra and the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist, he has performed with the Santa Maria da Feira Youth Orchestra, Espinho Classical Orchestra and Madeira Classical Orchestra. As a guest musician, he has collaborated with the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Remix Ensemble, Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música, Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, Beiras Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestrutopica, Orquestra Estúdio Foundation, Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra, Centro Classical Orchestra, among others.

He teaches at the Coimbra Music Conservatory. He has supervised improvement courses at the Dão Arts Conservatory, the Costa Cabral Music Academy, the Santa Maria da Feira Music Academy, the Pará International Music Festival (Brazil), the Paredes Conservatory of Music and the São Jorge Island (Azores).

He is a founding member of the Portuguese Horns Quartet, with which he won 2nd Prize in the “24th Young Musicians Award” in the Chamber Music category, higher level and the 10th International Music Competition for Young Performers “Città di Chieri”, not being awarded in any of these the 1st Prize.
